>> About Inpatient Rehab Unit

The Inpatient Rehab Unit on the 6th floor of Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center is a unique, specialized “hospital within a hospital.” Occupational therapists, physical therapists and speech/language pathologists work as a team with the medical director, the social worker, the nurses and the patient and family to provide therapy during the day and carryover of activities by the nurses and family at night. Therapy is focused on getting a patient as independent as possible with the kinds of activities he or she performed before the illness.

The unit offers comfortable, spacious rooms designed to maximize each patient’s rehabilitation potential. Therapy areas include a rehabilitation gym, a patient kitchen, an activities of daily living room set up to simulate a patient’s own bedroom and a newly decorated dining room that al-so houses a gardening program.

Because each person is unique, the dedicated team of professionals on the unit individualizes every patient’s care, taking into consideration that everyone progresses at a different pace. On the Inpatient Rehab Unit, Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center is dedicated to helping patients get past the hurdles and back to their lives — returning to work, family, active retirement or independent living.
