Mission
Our Mission, as Healthcare Educators, is to constantly strive to provide resources and training to support the American Heart Associations mission of fighting heart disease and stroke by strengthening the Chain of Survival for our community, medical staff, employees, and most importantly, our patients.
Philosophy
We believe that one of the greatest responsibilities of the organization is to promote wellness and provide for advancement of clinical knowledge and expertise. We are committed to work with our community, medical staff, and employees to provide educational opportunities which provide for the development of the skills and attitudes to carry out this responsibility.
Brief Description of Department
The Training Center is responsible for the coordination of staff and community courses specific to health topics, safety topics, and the advancement of clinical knowledge and expertise.
Hours of availability, support and backup provided
8:00 am until 4:30 pm, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 8:00 am until 11:00 am Tuesdays and Thursdays with occasional educational offerings scheduled on evenings and weekends. Employee folders with course completion information are available in the Education Department for the Nurse Manager, Supervisor, and Nursing Administration at all times.
How support area/service helps meet patient care needs
The Training Center supports the medical center staff with advancement of clinical knowledge and skills. This advanced knowledge enables staff to provide superior patient care.
Example of integration with patient care areas
The Training Center offers in service and continuing education offerings to enhance the medical center staffs patient care skills and provides health/safety education offerings to the community.

JCAHO, American Heart Association guidelines, and hospital policies.
Our Goals
To increase the quantity of Emergency Cardiovascular Care Training in the Medical Center and the community.
To continue to enhance the quality of Emergency Cardiovascular Care Training within the Medical Center and the community.
To communicate with Emergency Cardiovascular Care Instructors, Medical Center personnel, and the Director of Education to streamline the Basic Life Support renewal process.
To strengthen the grass roots training network to further enhance early implementation of the American Heart Associations Chain of Survival in our community.
Code Of Ethics
The Training Center is charged with the responsibility of coordinating staff and community courses specific to health topics, safety topics, and the advancement of clinical knowledge and expertise.

Patient Rights
The Training Center supports SMRMCs Patient Bill of Rights. This department strives to attain, protect, and respect patients rights. These rights include:
The right to privacy.
The right to confidentiality.
The right to security and to feel secure.
The right to voice any complaint and expect proper resolution of the complaint when appropriate.
The right to communication through physicians, hospital, mechanical means, or personal translator.
The right to receive a written statement of informing the patient of his or her rights.
The right to informed consent.
