At Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center, we've taken another major step in strengthening the depth of our specialty capabilities with the SMRMC Digestive Disease Center.
As the name suggests, this specialty care unit is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of virtually any disorder related to the entire gastrointestinal tract.
The Center specifically addresses illnesses and disorders of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine and large intestine, as well as the liver, gallbladder and pancreas. This new facility includes a swallowing disorder clinic with speech therapists, a nutrition service team with registered dietitians, gastrointestinal modalities and Ph studies, along with advanced endoscope procedures including the liver, bile duct systems, and pancreas (pancreatic biliary endoscope). More than ever, there's no reason to go elsewhere, whatever your healthcare needs.
Bringing Together the Finest Human and Technology Resources.
The Digestive Disease Center is headed by two highly-trained, Board Certified Gastroenterologists with extensive training and experience in disorders of the G.I. tract. In addition, we've assembled a skilled team of technologists, registered nurses specially trained in endoscope, speech therapists, and registered dietitians working in conjunction with radiologists and surgeons. Our Medical Center has invested in the most advanced technology and equipment available in this field.
The Center features state-of-the-art suites for endoscope, including advanced endoscope procedures allowing out-patient, and non-surgical diagnosis and treatment of a variety of disorders of the liver, gall bladder and pancreas. And for greater patient comfort and privacy, we've designed 6 individual holding rooms for patients awaiting G.I. procedures, and we've strategically located our post-procedure recovery area immediately adjacent to the nurses' station. Patients in recovery are literally just a few short steps away from our attentive nurses.
