Welcome to Southwest Health System (SHS). We are pleased that you have chosen Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center (SMRMC) or one of our affiliated facilities as your healthcare provider. Whether you are here for an outpatient procedure or being admitted for a longer stay, we want your time with us to be as comfortable as possible.
Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center offers valet parking from 6:00 am until 8:00 pm Monday through Friday for your convenience. Valet parking may be accessed by driving up to the covered area at the main entrance. Valet parking is also available at the Cardiovascular Institute of Mississippi main entrance from 6:00 am until 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.
The Marion Avenue parking lot may also be used by visitors. Parking located directly behind the Emergency Department is designated for Emergency Room patients only and is monitored by security.
Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center is a smoke free campus. Nicotine replacement strategies are offered to patients who smoke. Please speak with your physician or nurse about this.
All firearms and deadly weapons are prohibited on the campus and facilities.
We regret that we cannot be responsible for loss of your personal items while you are staying with us. Please give these items to a family member/significant other while you are hospitalized.
Your bill reflects all of the services you receive during your stay. Charges fall into two categories: a basic daily rate, which includes your room, meals, nursing care, housekeeping, telephone, and television; and charges for special services which include items your physician orders for you, such as xrays or laboratory tests. If you have certain tests or treatments in the hospital, you will receive bills from physicians you did not see in person.
These bills are for professional services rendered by these doctors in diagnosing and interpreting test results while you were a patient. Pathologists, radiologists, cardiologists, anesthesiologists, and other specialists perform these services and are required to submit separate bills. If you have questions about these bills, please call the number printed on the statement you receive from them.
Your hospital insurance coverage is a contract between you and your insurance company. We will verify benefits and file a claim with your company; however, you are ultimately responsible for the payment of your account. We will inform you of admission deposits either before or at the time of admission.
Your Patient Accounts Representative will be happy to answer any nonmedical questions concerning your hospital stay (i.e., questions about finances, credit or insurance, admission or discharge procedures).
Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center maintains medical records for each patient treated at the hospital.
To request a copy of your medical records, please contact our Health Information Management/Release of Information Department at601-250-4453 between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
Prior to receiving your records, you will be asked to complete a medical records release authorization form and to provide proof of your identification with a valid photo ID.
Records needed for continuing care purposes will be send directly to your provider.
Requests for medical records generally take up to 72 hours to process.
