Nurse Practitioners June Seminar - Updates and Best Practices at SMRMC

Nurse Practitioners in the surrounding communities were updated on the
latest updates and best practices for their field at Southwest Mississippi
Regional Medical Center. Regulatory updates, with emphasis on narcotics
and the latest rulings on prescribing durable medical equipment and
diabetic supplies were discussed in a round table setting.
Some 35 nurse practitioners attended the program.

Leading the program were Floyd Wiley, CFNP, APRN Investigator for the
State Board of Nursing, Phyllis Johnson, CFNP, Executive Director for the
State Board of Nursing, Tina Highfill, CFNP, Director of Advanced Practice
and Licensure for the State Board of Nursing. Local coordinator for the
program was Mary Thornton, CFNP, with Gastroenterology Associates in
McComb.
