Welcome to Southwest Health System Family Medicine Residency Program. I welcome your interest in our residency program. We are excited that you chose training in family medicine and will join a specialty that is vibrant and in much demand. The members of our team find the work of training family practitioners personally and professionally fulfilling.

Southwest Health is anchored by its hospital and clinics. Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center has been providing care for patients in southwest Mississippi and bordering Louisiana parishes since 1969. The communities served are primarily rural. This gives our residents the opportunity to learn and experience the challenges associated with the practice of rural family medicine.

Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center is a well-equipped and modern hospital along with our experienced specialists and staff, gives our residents exposure to most all medical specialties. This leads to a commitment to provide high quality primary care and the training of excellent family physicians.

Finally, our mission and our program is built on a family environment that provides residents with not only academic support to grow in the field of family medicine but also the social and well-being support needed to succeed as they begin the next chapter in their medical careers.
