McComb OB-GYN: Built on Trust. Connected for the Future.

In a community like Southwest Mississippi, healthcare is personal. It’s built on familiarity, trust, and relationships formed over time.
That’s exactly what makes the addition of McComb OB-GYN to Southwest Health feel less like something new and more like something continuing to grow.
For decades, McComb OB-GYN has cared for women and families across the region. Today, that team — Dawn Sumrall, MD; Patrick Daigle, MD; Kappi Rushing, FNP-BC; and Diane Van, DNP, FNP-C — continues forward together. While Dr. Daigle has already been a part of Southwest Health, the coming together of McComb OB-GYN brings the full team into closer alignment, strengthening the continuity of care patients have long trusted — now with a more connected system supporting them.
“We’re building upon a strong foundation while expanding the depth and connectivity of women’s healthcare services across our system,” said Charla Rowley, CEO. “Our priority is to strengthen access, enhance coordination, and ensure patients continue to receive high-quality care within their very own communities.”
For providers like Van, that growth is also personal. “I have always been passionate about women’s health and love taking care of women here in my hometown,” she said. “I’m excited to start seeing pregnant patients and learning this entire new side of OB-GYN, and Southwest Health has afforded me this opportunity.”
What’s changed isn’t the care; it’s what now stands behind it. With the addition of the EPIC electronic health record system, providers are more connected than ever. Information moves faster. Communication is clearer. And patients experience a system that feels more coordinated from one visit to the next.
“With our new EMR system, we now have access to our patients' medical records within the Southwest Health system, as well as other specialties having access to ours,” said Rushing. “The addition of Dr. Daigle has also allowed me to start seeing OB patients again.”
It’s a shift that extends beyond technology. It’s about alignment — between clinic and hospital, between specialties, and across every stage of care. And it comes at a time when that kind of coordination matters more than ever.
In 2025, Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center earned its Baby-Friendly re-designation, reinforcing a continued commitment to evidence-based care for mothers and newborns.
Together, these moments point to something bigger taking shape. Not a change in direction — but a strengthening of what’s already here. Care that feels familiar. Support that runs deeper. And a system designed to grow alongside the communities it serves.
